i was given a pair of clownfish from a guy that lives next to me cause his tank was falling apart and didnt want them to die..

ive read if they swim together and spend most of the time together there a pair? right.

one is is an inch and a half long and the other is two and a half inches long

the bigger one looks like this

and the little one looks like this

now are they the same kind of clownfish? one has black trim around the strip and the other one dosent....

also the little one keeps twiching next to the big one . and rubbing its face against the bigger ones abdomen .is that bad?

i asked the guy i got them from about this and he had no clue.

i posted it in the clownfish forum also....

The big one is an ocellaris and the small one is a true perc.

I don't know about the twitching and rubbing, but it sounds innocuous..

it appears the bigger one is an ocellaris and the smaller a true perc to me as well.

the twitching is normal. the bigger one is the female, smaller is the male. when the male twitches he is showing submission to the female, he does what's called the clown "pop and lock". it's part of the pairing process. mine still do it even after 2 years.

i'm surprised they aren't fighting since the are different

The male is showing submission. The female will do it back if she accepts him as a mate. My Clarkii pair do it all the time. She will actually do it if he wonders too far away and he comes running to her side.

I have heard of Occellaris and True Percs pairing before. Never heard of succesful breeding but they will probably be able to live long healthy lives together.

If both of those pictures are actual images of both your fish then they are both Amphiprion percula

Both ocellaris and percula mixed pairs have been bred and raised before and there are many know cases of the cross. This includes black ocellaris with standard ocellaris(not really a mix) percula clown mixes.

In fact JFYI there is a know cross of a golden striped maroon, Premnas biaculeatus and ocellaris clown. They called it a Cocoa clown. These fish have been raised and sold by Proaquatics I believe.

See here for pic,

From what I know about Morgman, he's the clown expert. Especially when it comes to breeding. I'm still waiting to buy a B/W pair from him. I've been patient as I know it's worth the wait.

Hawaiian boi-- It would be helpful to get a better shot of the clowns. I am pretty sure from your most current pic they are ocellaris like you say. But without a good clear pic of the clowns I can't say for sure. The bottom clown is questionable but hard to say without good shot of the eyes.

The other pics at the top of this post are percula clowns. :)
