question about my lighting

I recently purchased a Coralife Aqualight Single Linear Strip Light 1X65W 30 inch for my 29 gallon tank. I was wondering with this lighting what type of soft coral can I keep. And also is it possible for me to have an anemone? I really want an anemone and two clown fish set up. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

With that light you will be able to keep zoas, mushrooms and the less light demanding softies in your tank. The anemone is off limits with this light. They really need around 5 watts per gallon to really do well. Also, they should go in a well established tank of 6 months running or more. You will have to upgrade to keep an anemone happy and healthy. HTH

Thank you so much for your response. Could you suggest some lights that would work for what I am trying to achieve that would compliment my current set up?

You could keep softies with that. I've got a 2x65w coralife aqualight on my 29, but only one bulb is a daylight (10K) so thats the only one giving off beneficial light really. And i keep lots of softies w/that light. Zoas and shrooms too.

Also, i think that watts per gallon rules are pretty crappy rules to go by. Not bashing on you 2OceanLovers, i'm just stating my own opinion. And especially with weak pc lights. IMO you wont be able to keep anems w/pc's on a 29 succesfully longterm. I'd go with like a 4x24w t5 HO retrofit setup if you want to be able to keep anything you want in that tank.

You'd have to build a canopy (or just buy one) so that you can retrofit the t5's into it to fit your tank (they dont make 30" t5 setups that i'm aware of...)

But this light would allow you to keep basically anything. This seems to be the top one that everyone is telling me to get. And they all recommend the ATI bulbs to go with it. And they also recommend upgrading to the icecap reflectors. I'm buying a 4x39w setup of the same exact thing (just stronger) and its only 8 bucks to upgrade the reflectors to the icecaps. So at that point its like...why not upgrade haha.

If you were to get a PC light that was to be strong enough to grow anems and stuff, it will need a really high amount of pc lighting. So you're gonna get more heat, and more expense per month just to run it. And not to mention you gotta replace the bulbs on pc's every 6 months or so. T5's can go for around a year.

And same with MH's. I'm really looking forward to getting my t5 retro as soon as i get the money. Not only will it be a lot cheaper in the longrun, but i'll be able to keep whatever i want.
