Question about new stand

So i know this isn't a true DIY question, but it doesn't involve me modifying a stand, and i'm hopeful this is the section where i might get people who know about this sort of stuff.

I bought a stand off of CL yesterday for my 75g tank. It's a Marineland/Perfecto stand, and I have an Aqueon tank. The stand has a lip that covers the trim that is BARELY too small. The tank fits in it, just a little on the snug sides. I didn't have to force it or anything, but if i took say 1/8" off one side with a sander it'd have some wiggle room. I'd rather not, as that means i'll probably have to get some paint and match the part i sanded off. Not a huge deal, but something i'd prefer not to do if it doesn't really matter.

So, my question... Does it matter that the tank fits "snugly"? It's not applying much pressure to the tank, but i don't know if any pressure is too much.

Thanks in advance!
