Question about PPE

My PPE has always been shy when it comes to lighting. If I place him out in direct lighting on the bottom of my tank he will not open all the way. If I place him in some shade he will open all the way after a few days. Is this true for others as well or not? Does anyone out there have a light loving PPE.

My lighting is (2) 175w 10000k mh. that is it.

ps. Where can I buy some purple people to feed these guy's?

You dont have any actinics at all... just the 10k? They tend to like actinics much more than 10k lighting. Also how is the flow directly under the MH compaired to the side where they open all the way?

I have pretty good flow everywhere. I would say they are happier with less flow though...

I have read that the darker colors dont like a lot of light but the reds and oranges do. Not sure if that is the problem or not.

I think its a combination of both flow and light thats causing them to not open all the way. They like flow but not the kind that you would give an SPS.

Also have you herd of the speckling effects? 10k lights might make them speckle if they are directly under them so be careful.
