Question about RODI Membrane

I recently tested my water and it was showing 16tds and ordered a new membrane ($40) because I had just replaced all of my other filters. Now I realize I was using my TDS meter wrong and the real result of my water was 0tds. I replaced the membrane an hour ago. Should I take it out and put the old one back in since there was nothing wrong with it and keep the new one as a replacement for later? Or can I not since I have already ran water though it. What would you guys do??

Email BRS they are really good about giving great advice, I'm not sure about since water has already went through it can it still be stored. The reason I would try and save is because they last for years, mine is going on 4+ years, I have a new one waiting.

Once wetted, the membrane needs to stay wet. If it dries, you'll ruin it.

You could remove the new membrane and store it wet, but you'd have to preserve it first. We use a food grade preservative for this purpose, but in your case I think it would be more trouble than it's worth. The preservative should be refreshed/replaced after 1 year.
