Question about sand choice.

I have a 240 gal tank that has been set up since December of last year. I chose the smallest sand available (sugar sized) because I've always liked the way it looked. Now right now I have 2 Tunze in there for flow but I have to have them turned way down on the controller and I have to have them positioned all the way on the top or otherwise they will blow the sand around. I was wondering if I should remove some of the sand and replace it with a bigger size or just put the bigger size on top of the existing sand.

You might try a few bags of CaribSea Sealfor Select dry sand, rinse well before adding. As you add, manually mix it in with your sugar-fine sand. Do one bag at a time, and watch for nitrate or phosphate spikes as you stir up your old bed. I haven't had blowing around with this grade and I am using both closed loop and Vortechs for water movement.

the oolite sucks for flow and sandsifting fish.. the Bahama Sand or Reef floor is the best bet as said above ^
