Question about Seio m620

I have 2 maxi jet 1200's in my 25, I thought maybe I could get a seio and eliminate the MJ's. I just received a seio 620 and I mounted it Tunze style and it doesn't feel like it blowing out hard at all when I put my hand up to it. I still have 1 MJ in the tank and if I turn it off and only have the seio on it's barely moving my water. I have the water flow turned up all the way, is there something I'm missing? Is it defective? The MJ seems like it's alot stronger and it's half the GPH.

seios have a wider , less strong current. mjs just shoot out or one spot, and don't cover that much area.

I notice it's more wide spread but it just looks and feels weak. I thought it would be too much flow, now I I realize I should have got the bigger one.

I have to agree with you on the output of the 620. I got one for my 33 cube thinking that it would be pleanty but I was shocked at how little water was moving in the tank. Just today I got an 820 and put that in there too. There is just no comparing the output of the 820 and 620, the 820 is 2" deeper in the water and the surface agitation is amazing. I think maybe the 620 is over rated, if you can return it and pick up an 820. You won't be disappointed!

I have 3 620s in my 58. I always think there isn't enough flow until I do a WC and see bubbles shooting across the tank from air getting sucked into them.

But with that said, I know I would be happier with the 820s. Will just have to wait until these ones crap out. 1.5 years on a wavemaker and still going strong though.

Hey ostrow,

Nice tank! Looks like you have an excellent amount of flow in there. Did you do this MJ mod yourself?

No got an experienced guy to build them for me (email if interested in info). But now the mod is easier (read the last few pages) and parts easily purchased (ditto). So next time or if I have to repair I'll likely do it myself.

Um... don't you think a maxi-jet mod will destroy his 25 gallon? Especially if he has a sand bed. Those things put out like 2000 gallons per hour!

The MJ's could put out that much with the mod? Where do they sell the kit for it? Dragon Thanks for the tip on the 820? Are they alot bigger? I can't return it because I got it from ebay. I guess I could sell it, I'm just not happy with it at all.

You might get a little more out of the 620 by removing the sleeve that is used to adjust the flow. Unscrew the front piece & pull the sleeve off, you don't need it.

The flow from the mod is entirely dependent upon the propeller used and the openings in the shroud.

Use the smallest prop and flow is around 900GPH. Should work great.
