Question about Tunze 9010 DOC

Hello,

I just setup my new 9010 in my sump and I'm not sure if everything is correct. I noticed a hole in the back of the unit that is expelling water. The water stream coming out of the hole is about 1/4 inch in diameter. Is this normal, or am I supposed to plug the hole with something?

Thank you,

Danny

I had the same concern when I setup my 9015. I called Tunze USA, and one of the techs confirmed that the hole with the water flowing out indicates normal operation.

I just wished they put that in the manual.

^^ Agreed about creating a new revision for the manual, however their customer service is still top notch.

i just bought the 9010 and I set it up in my sump but no bubles or foam. Does it take a while for them to develop or should it start developing them right away/

Takes a little bit of time to "break-in" the skimmer. Mine took about 4 days, but it varies, some a little shorter, others a little longer.

apbt217,

As Danny mentioned it can take a few days to start to foam, plastic has a residue on it from manufacture and inhibits production. If you do not have any foam after 5-6 days re assemble skimmer and go through the start up instructions again.

Cheers
Graeme
