Question about Tunze Flow

Hello All,
I just recently got a new tank 120gallons(48x24x24), and I wanted to set up a tunze system in it, what would you recomend and I am planing on keeping SPS, fish, and others...

The current flow in tank is set up is as such

A. Mag 7 for the main return, which is flowed rated at 650gph because of head loss.
B. Fluval 404 jet which is rated at 300gph , I am only running this system because it alows me to run carbon thru the tank and it is very easy to clean.
C. Maxi-jet 1200, I hate this and I want it gone, but it moves water but not how I want it to.

So as you can see I would like to up the water movement in my tank with out causing a total sand storm, but alowing my corals and such to have a great life.

Can anyone tell me what setup would be best and also where to get it. what about controllers.

Thanks,

The ideal for SPS would be two 6000 Streams and the Multicontroller- preferably the new 7095 when it comes out. I would say that with sugar sand a disturbance of the sand bed is a distinct possibility. You could avoid this by using the 7400/2 instead and while this would be a big improvement, it isn't ideal for SPS systems like the Streams. It is a trade off in a sense. It is possible that you will have no sand bed issues at all, many people with older sand beds see no problems at all.

rvitko--thanks could you posibly give me a link to where I could purchase these (two 6000 and a multicontroller),

second where would I mount them in the tank the overflow box is in the back left corner and there is nothing on the other side.

Thank you for your help in this mater.

Placement isn't two important but generally in the back corners aimed toward the front center or even across the tank. Marine Depot, Champion and Premium Aquatics all sell these products. The current multicontroller 7094 is no longer available and the 6000's are a bit behind but I expect your order could be filled with the new 7095 controller and pumps in about 3 weeks.

I think around $700, the new multicontroller is about $40 more. You can also piece a set together over time, the pumps work alone and one would cover your tank but lack the randomness that is ideal.

rvitko?????Would a single 6000 and single controller work for my tank, just had to buy a new skimmer and its christmas so looking to save some money?

Probably will upgrade later to two but will one work for a while?]

It would be a bit weak in the far reaches but it will work, placement will be the main thing, place your low flow specimens far away and the higher flow corals nearer, return flow strength will be important, if you have about 1000gph of return flow you should be fine.
