Question about Tunze random flow control?

Can somebody give me some info on how Tunze controllers work? Do they have set patterns of random flow like a Vortech, or do they just turn 1 pump on/off and alternate like that. Or do they actually ramp up/down the pump speed through the motions. And do they have set modes like Reef Crest mode, or can you make what ever kind of flow pattern you want? I have a MP20 and I really like it, but I just want to know how the tunze's work. I plan on having a mix of Tunze and Vortech in my next tank. Thanks.

They do vary speeds, a lot of what features you have will depend on the number of pumps and type of controller. The 7091 just pulses one pump between 2 speeds every few seconds. With an optional photocell it stops pulsing and stays at one speed during the night, it also has a button to stop the pumps for about 5 minutes for feeding. The 7095 can run up to 4 pumps as delivered and includes a photocell and moonlight feature. It can pulse like the 7091 and alternate betwen pumps, either off and on and the on pump pulses or idle and pulse, so one pump stays at 30% power and the other pulses. With 4 pumps you can also turn them on sequentially. The 7096 is programmed by a USB connection to the computer and adds wave mode which will turn the pumps off and on rapidly using resonance to create a wave and it also has storm mode which creates a brief storm once every few days as you set.
