A few more questions for the pros...
1. Can I do weekly/biweekly 5-8% water changes instead of once a month 20% water changes? Without getting into specifics this would be a lot easier for me.
2. I built life rock "caves" and stuck 2 maxijet 1200 power heads in these caves to keep them out of site, one on each side, both blowing out into the open (center of the tank.) I just noticed that the intake is caked with algae and other sedements. I'm guessing you're generally suppose to clean the intake of the powerheads to keep the flow optimal, or will this not really restrict flow much? They still seem to be pumping a good amount of water, but if they need regular maintanance then it was a REALLY bad idea to stick them in the aquascape like I did.
