Question about Zoathids

I was just wandering how they are constantly coming up with new zoa's. How do they change to become something new? Whats going on here is there something that im just not understanding??? Like the new nuclear green zoas where did they come from. someone please help me understand that.

also what is the best thing to feed them to maxamize growth?

I'm not sure of the actual genetics of it, but i know that I had one zoa type in my tank. A year later, there were two different types. No other zoas were added. I'm guessing that the zoa just morphs. The new ones aren't drastically different than the mother colony. The only difference in the two are the dark green spot in the middle of the new morphs. I'm guessing that water parameters, lights, etc. cause these changes.

My zoas are happiest and grow the best when the water params are in check and when I feed rotifers and cyclopeeze to the tank once a week. For me, this has caused the most zoa growth.

Good luck!! I hope someone can answer the zoa morphology question better than I can.

Different zoas can be found in the wild. They slowly make their way into the trade. Each and every zoanthid will look a little different under different lighting, also. I put frags of some of my zoanthids into my girlfriend's tank and they no longer look anything like they used to (switch from metal halide to VHO lighting)
