Question: Elegance Coral & Clowns

Hello,

I've been doing some research on another coral to add to my system and one I fell in love with as an anemone substitute is the Elegance Coral. I've seemingly seen a bit of both opinion towards positive and negative regarding clowns and elegance but I thought I'd shoot a message to the community and hear if anyone has any experience with it? I have a pair.

It's an expensive coral which is why I'm worried and I don't want to place it in a tank where it'll be harassed.

I have seen it go both ways, elegance corals are beautiful but can be picky. I have seen tanks where clowns did fine with the coral and i have seen it where the clowns harrased the coral to where it never expanded. I wouldnt suggest those corals or a goni as a anemone sub. As it really depends on the clown, you cant tell how one clown will treat a coral to the next clown.

I have an Ocellaris pair and I just purchased an Elegance coral this last weekend. So far, the Clownfish are paying it no attention whatsoever.

But my Solon Fairy Wrasse has figured out how to pluck Brine & Mysis shrimp from the Elegance's polyps!

I had an Ocellaris clown just destroy a Duncan coral one time. At first it didn't bother it, but once it made the connection between me spot feeding and the coral and food it was lights out. Definitely be careful.

My 2 clowns have been hosting in their elegance for almost a year now with now adverse affect to the coral :P

but i think each coral and clown can be different
