Question for stand builders...

I had a couple of quick questions for those who have successfully built stands for large tanks (~150 gallons or more). Let me know what you did, if you please...

Is there something that folks normally put between the top of a plywood stand and the bottom of a glass tank?

Is the same true for an acrylic tank?

What if the tank manufacturer (such as i believe Oceanic does) reinforces the base of the tank in some sort of stripping, which raise the glass a little off the bottom. is it necessary to put something in betwee the tank and the stand?

as you said, my AGA glass bottom never touches the bottom of my stand so all it stands on is the rim of the stand, and i can see the bottom of the tank if i look in my stand, also it makes it much easier since you don't have to drill for overflow holes in the stand.
you can see mine on my webpage that was already built before i knew to takes pictures for the other DIY'ers.

Great info on your website, comatose. I was considering buying an oceanic 156, so a stand like yours would do quite well. BUT, i may have a custom tank built, which will likely not have the moulding. Anyone else have input on the first 2 questions?
