Question: H&S Protein Skimmer

Anyone know what is the name of the pipe shown in below image:

Does anyone who own H&S protein skimmer know what is the material of the pipe shown in above pic?

The thickness of this pipe is different from the output pipe, it is more thick than the output pipe.

Is this pipe is made by VDL pvc-u too like the fitting?

Also, it has a rubber band-alike in it. Does anyone know what is the name of this rubber band and what is the material and what is the use of it?

NOTE: Why can't I edit my post?

the pipe material is going to be pvc in a metric size. that pipe is called a "wedge pipe" the rubber band you mention is called a "o-ring". the o-ring keeps wedge pipe sealed. the wedge pipe control's the water level in the skimmer.....

What is the name of it (the one shown in above pic that can adjust how much the water will flow from the output pipe like a valve)?

O-ring like the one on the bayonet fitting at the skimmer neck? I think it's different. The one in the wedge pipe is not as smooth as the one on the bayonet fitting (skimmer neck). It's more elastic and more soft than the one at on the skimmer neck. The one on the skimmer neck is harder than the one on the wedge pipe.

probably not the same as the one in the bayonet. here is a link to the o-ring gettin place! if you are in the usa. https://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=1azikb9

possibly a silicone oring? what color was it? durometer is a scale used to measure the "hardness of an object" mcmaster has durometer hardness listed for every oring...

does the oring have a square profile? i think these skimmers are still sold in europe? you could try emailing a distributor there for parts?

Yes, I think you're right that it has a square profile. It more soft and more elastic than the silicone o-ring. Are you using H&S skimmer too, or, you're using a skimmer that uses same o-ring on the wedge pipe like H&S?

I already see the official website and they don't sell this o-ring. This is the link of the official website:

no i do not use a H&S skimmer. i use an ATB skimmer...

pretty much every skimmer that uses a wedge pipe design has some kind of o-ring around the wedge pipe. you can get silicone o-rings in many different durometer's from squishy to solid as a rock. are you missing the o-ring and the wedge pipe on your H&S skimmer? or did the o-ring get damaged?

it really is as easy as measuring the diameter of the wedge pipe and obtaining an o-ring that is slightly smaller than that diameter.

the whole purpose of that o-ring is to provide some friction between the wedge pipe and the "T" fitting it goes into. this friction keeps the pipe at the desired adjustment point. it also prevents water from leaking up the wedge pipe. the basic design of the wedge pipe creates back pressure by decreasing the diameter of the opening of the exit. which in turn raises the level of water in the skimmer body.
