Question on Angelo's custom stands

Hi all,

I have one of those custom cabinet/stands made by Angelo. I damaged one of the hood doors. Should I bring back to Dr. Le for a repair, or should I contact him directly (if I can).

Has this ever happened to anybody else?

Angelo of Angelo's Custom Woodworking tookover Marine Systems' business. He custom builds the same style stands that Marine Systems use to build except in 100% wood veneer, no particle board stuff. You cannot deal with him directly, he only works through one of your local fish stores.

Your best bet, Steve at Lucky Ocean on Balboa & 2nd Ave. Steve is really good about continuous follow-up with cabinet makers like Angelo or fabricators like Gen at Krittertanks.

I've never been there, I guess it's time to visit a new LFS and get a quote on a stand ;)

thanks guys and girls =)

Re: Question on Angelo's custom stands

I talked to my aquarium tech who maintains my tanks and he said that you need to go back to where your made your purchase and they will work out with Angelo's Custom Woodworking on getting your door repaired. He says it shouldn't be much to fix, maybe they'll charge about $25-$30 was his opinion.

Angelo didn't take over Marine Systems. It is unwise to say things you are not sure of.

Oops, you are correct. There is a relationship between the old Marine Systems stands and Angelo's, but they are completely different businesses and different business owners. When Marine Systems closed down, the stand making business shifted over to Angelo's as he was the main guy now. Sorry for the blooper. IMO, Angelo builds a much better quality stand than Marine Systems ever did.

I agree with that as well.. I know Angelo personally myself and he did not takeover MS.

BTW, for those thinking about ordering an Angelo's custom stand, it will get delivered directly to you, NOT to your LFS for local pickup. A nice benefit. This is why you want to order through someone who will check and follow-up on your stand if there are any delays.

UCanDoIt, you have aquarium technicians? Does that mean you have a LFS? Just curious =)

btw I'll go to Lucky Ocean this week sometime to ask about the stand =)

I hired aquarium techs to do monthly water changes on my 3 tanks. They also help with with custom work and installations as I'm not a DIY kind of girl. :D

Steve will take good care of your custom stand needs. I believe my aquarium techs are only taking special orders for their clients only, but not sure since they only started a new account with Angelo's.

I know it's very expensive ordering from Dr Le, I got a quote from him for a 48x24x30 stand and 48x24x18 hood, for $1500, I know Angel does very nice wood work and the lacquire finishing looks anything but specticular. I bet if call around you will find different prices of Angels's wood stand amongst the LFS, unless, Angels exclusively deal with Aquatic Gallery.

What would you do if the store you bought it from no longer exists?

lfs diasappears

lfs diasappears

that does happen, competition squeezes out stores. :D pick a reliable source to buy from... sometimes cheap is not the best deal long term.

edit: for those getting quotes for Angelo's custom stands, Angelo's pricing probably cannot differ too much to the lfs, but depending on the markup over Angelo's price, it could be anywhere from 10% - 25% is customary.
