Question on drilling a tank...

I've got a 20L I used as a treatment tank and plan to continue using it as a treatment/QT. I want to dremel out some drain and return holes to reduce the equipment in it for more room for corals. If I use an overflow, it will take up alot of the room I hope to free up with the equipment removal. I was thinking about having a sruface skimming drain line (1" bulkhead into the tank with a 90 degree elbow and a strainer on the end of the elbow). How much noise is this going to make? It seems like I have seen some of these types of setups with very little drainage noise. Would I be alot better off in regards to sound by building an overflow/modified Durso instead?

Anyone got any diamond hole saws in the area? I'd need a 1 3/4" and 1 1/2"...

Gary,

I have a 1 3/4"...assuming I can find it.

If you prefer to buy your own, I found mine on ebay for $10.00 including shipping. It came from Hong Kong, and it got here quick.

I'll look for mine and let you know if I find it.

Gary, I've got a 2" and a 1 1/2" that I can mail to you to use. When your finished just mail them back and reimburse me for my postage.

Thanks Art. I just found a few on ebay for really cheap. I got two 38mm (~1.5") and one 45mm (~1.75") for $22.50 shipped.

I have done the dremel method, but I figure this one has got to be faster. The hole is a little rounder, too;). I dremeled that 75.

I had to e-mail him for the set I wanted (If you got them from Lau).
Im pretty sure your going to like those better than the Dremel ;)
