question on feeding anemone

Hey guys, quick question for you. Is it normal for my anemone to only accept food when my clowns bring it to him and reject if i put it there? lol probably a stupid question but it's just odd to me.

no not a stupid question.

All the BTA and anemone's i've had only accepted food from the host clowns. Or if you want to hand feed it. Get some feeding tongs, and kinda wiggle it in there kinda like mimicking how the clowns feed it.

IME BTA's kept under good lighting will not eat every time you feed them...with clowns in the tank I think they keep it well enough fed that it isn't "hungry", so to speak...BTA's (and many others) may "take" the food (ie. nematocysts fire), but they don't eat is, but rather let it float away...generally in a healthy specimen this is because they are still digesting the last meal...once they expel the waste from that meal, they will be ready to accept new food offered.

cool thanks, just wondering because my sebae will eat whatever i give it and the new haddoni i got only ate what the clown gives it.

My LTA takes food from me all the time. i use a toothpick and is gently removed by his tents. I worry that he is underfed! lol

Ive heard that tongs or non flesh items....the anemones do not like and will retract. I have witnessed this, so I just use my hand and make it feel as much like a fish as possible.
