Question on flukes and ich

My friend set up a QT a few weeks ago (with rock, sand and water from his display) and received a shipment of fish (a few anthias and a powder blue) 2 days ago. All fish went to the QT since then. Today, he notice the powder blue is starting to develop ich and one of the anthias shows symptom of flukes. He has a couple of questions:

1. What is the best ich medicine these days?
2. Can he does Prazipro and ich medicine at the same time? He would like to avoid catching the fish to do a fresh water dip.

Thanks in advance.

Before you can even get into discussing meds, why is your friend putting LR and sand into a QT?? you should only have a bare bottom and perhap some pvc for hiding places. Any rocks or sand will cause a fluctuation in copper levels which leads to under or over dosing and can kill the fish. As for meds, Cuppramine(copper) and Prazi Pro are the best meds for Ich and flukes respectively. Many people do treat with these simultaneously but Hikari says it can lower the effectiveness of Prazi so a second treatment will likely be necessary which i do anyway.

Thanks Peter!

He just put a piece of small LR from the sump so the fish has a place to hide. I think if he has PVC handy, he would probably have used them. I will let him know and replace the LR with PVC.
