Question on Formalin

I've decided to go fish only in my tank and in the process of removing all coral and inverts from my display. I am also suspecting that brook is in my tank and is responsible for killing almost everyone in there. I've been planning on starting over with the tank but wondering if it would be just as effective to dose the tank with Formalin to kill off brook instead of starting over. Opinions? How long and at what ppm would the tank need to be to accomplish this and does a water change effectively remove it later?

Several people on this forum have mentioned that a 6 week fallow period should wipe out Brook.

Formalin will most likely torch everything, including the live rock and bacteria. If you are going to start from scratch, then do just that. Throw everything out and bleach it in the sun, no chemicals are needed IMO.

I've always done baths and never dosed the tank for a long period of time. I think fishvet' website has a recommendation on how many drops per gallon for dosing the whole tank. If you do end up doing it please share your experience.

I guess in the end not worth taking this risk, better off bleaching everything..
