Question on pairing

Hey,
I have a small, about 3/4 inch, tank raised perc clownfish, i would really like to start a pair, but i read that article on the top that the new fish can be injured or die because of the formal fish. If i got a tank raised perc alittle bigger than him, would they fight? Or the new perc is male and will pair with each other.

How long has your percula been alone? If (s)he's been alone for quite a while, it may already be female, and that could cause problems if you introduce a larger one.

A 3/4" perc is still a juvenile. You should be fine adding a larger perc. Or you can add one the same size.

just because its small doesnt meant it is sexless

Then why would you want to find the largest clown you can find and take a chance that both would be female?

ive had the clown i would say half a year, ya this clown is pretty small.

If it's been by itself for 6 months, then its female or in the process of turning by now i assure you. Try to find a mate around 1/2"-3/4".

I'm surprised it is so small still. Here is an article with a timeline that gives approximate sizes with age. Granted, these are approximate, and there are many variables involved.

ehh...i over exaggerated, hes like 1 inch, but find a clown thats smaller than him..or her

In my opinion 1" is iffy, I'd try for a smaller one, just to be safe. They are out there! Ask around, you will find one.
