Question on Pinpoint PH Controller Probe Replacement

My Pinpoint PH Controller, which I've had for 6-7 years, started giving very low readings. I figured the probe needed to be replaced as I was unable to calibrate the existing one. I went to a LFS, which is actually over an hour away but I prefer to give them my business, and was sold a Milwaukee replacement probe. I got home and it did not read, nor calibrate, properly either. I then figured my PH Controller was the culprit. I took the probe back to the store to see if they would give me a credit and the owner saw that they gave me an ORP probe by mistake. They gave me a new probe and sent me on my merry way. I just tried to calibrate the new probe and it will not calibrate. I looked at the end of the probe and it has a tiny metal pin coming out of it, where the Pinpoint probe has a glass bulb. The new probe has "MA 921" written on the top, and after Googling it, this seems to be an ORP probe as well. Can anyone confirm that I still have not been given a PH probe? Thanks.

A probe labeled "MA 921" is in fact an ORP probe. It should clearly say on the probe that it is a ph probe. This will be silk screened on the probe body, printed on the white label near the connector, or both. Sounds to me like the LFS needs to have a better handle on their inventory. I have also never seen a ph probe that does not encapsulate the probe tip in a bubble of glass or plastic.

DaveMorris, thanks for the confirmation. As mentioned, the only writing on the probe is up near the top, where the wire is attached, and it only says MA 921. I will get with the store on Monday.
