Question on TTM

I would ditch the stone and get a long bubble wand. They might be breathing heavy because of lack of available oxygen in the water.

If your having ammonia issues while doing TTM, your feeding them way too much. I've never had an issue with ammonia during TTM. The fish aren't in the same water long enough to cause an issue with ammonia. I've used the seachem ammonia badges before and never saw them move. I don't even check for it now while doing TTM. I will admit that I've only ever done small fish, so it may be different with larger ones.

I've had fish never eat during the entire TTM process, but as soon as they go into a QT, they usually start eating. I wouldn't sweat it.

Fish dying unfortunately happens, and often we never know why. I doubt it was the TTM process that caused it. A lot of people have never had a fish die during this, and its actually the least stressful of the three methods.

It was probably unhealthy to begin with. This is why we put these animals through this(TTM, QT procedure), weed out the unhealthy before adding them to our DT.

So you would say its alright for fish to go the 14 days without eating?

I'm not saying its alright, but I have had it happen and the fish is still alive to this day. Matter of fact the warpaint goby I just got didn't eat one bit during the entire TTM process. He's happy and healthy now and eats like a pig.

I will say though, normally clowns eat like pigs, but if it doesn't I wouldn't sweat it. I would still offer a TINY bit, but wouldn't stress out if it didn't eat. When it got to my QT after TTM and it still wasn't eating, then I would start to worry a bit. TTM is stressful no doubt about it, but its a necessary evil.

You could stop TTM now, and place in a QT. keep an eye on it and if ich presents itself then do TTM again. Since your already half way through the TTM process, I would just continue at this point.

By a tiny bit, do you mean something like one mysis shrimps worth of food?

I know it works for people but I don't run my qts with just airstones. I ran some koralias in the tank to help with oxygen. If they are uncomfortable that may be way they aren't eating. Worth a try to add some flow.

Just to be sure, you mean a koralias powerhead? I was thinking about adding a HOB filter rather than a powerhead because I was thinking a powerhead would be too much for a 10 gal?

I never had any issues with ammonia during ttm and i feed heavy. I can't imagine those tiny little clowns in your picture to produce that much ammonia within 72 hours. I also never had any issues with using airstones. If an oxygen issue is suspected, I would rather get a stronger air pump than use a hob filter or powerhead for ttm. Those would be harder to disinfect and dry.

yah, im convinced the ammonia was my doing... currently the only one I have in the tank is sitting in a 90 degree pipe looking out at me as I type this... he is seeming happier that I have seen him before.

I find that odd that he is seeming much more relaxed after the 2nd one died and was pulled from the tank. could they have been fighting even at such a young age?

Yes. They are fighting to determine which one will become dominant (female). When you get another one, try to get one larger than the one you already have. They will fight less that way (since the larger one will be female and dominant). The smaller one you have will eventually submit to the larger one.
