Question on Turbo Snails

I've got this brown stringy crap on my sandbed. I have 3 turbo snails in the tank and they're the most recent addition. Are they known for leaving this junk behind? I can't think of what else it could be.

Is this just in a few places here and there? Could be snail waste. But if is covering sections of your sand you may have an algae or bacteria issue.

Do you add anything like phtyo?
If it's hairy its most likely algea, the snail waste that is produced by the turbo snails should look like little tan pellets.
