I recently seen what appeared to me to be a white spot on the head of my Chromis. I have had him for nearly a week and did not QT. I have also been fighting a low pH of 7.8. The spot has not spread nor have my clowns or other chromis shown any symptoms. It has not changed form or moved. I closely looked at him after purchasing a magnifying glass and it seems to be some scales which are dislodged (guess thats the word to use) or scraped upwards on his head. With that being said, I started to do some searching and a question jumped in my head. Everyone is saying if you leave your tank fallow for roughly 6 to 8 weeks, the parasite will die off and your concerns will be lifted. Does this same principle apply if you have very healthy fish and a healthy tank, and do not see any signs of the parasite on any of your fish for that duration of time? Will the parasite be gone if it was ever present?
Also, a few posts mentioned that the parasite is present in every tank, its just a matter of the fish' ability to fight the parasite. Is this theory valid? I feel I am nearly done stocking my tank with only an anemone left to purchase, and I do not want this to be a concern due to not having a QT. Sorry for the noob question, I just freaked out when I seen the spot on his head, and didn't want to lose everything includin my precious new clowns.
