question re lighting refit

I'm refitting my lights at the weekend and wondered if the light has to be equally spread across the full underneath of the hood or will it work just as well if I situate them both towards the back.

The reason I ask is because I have some pretty horrendous burns on my arm from the lights as I always seem to catch my arm on the front one.

right now there is a blue one at the back and a white one at the front and the lid is lined with reflective paper which is awful (I bought it 2nd hand and it was already there) so I have bought proper reflectors and want to add a moonlight light, which if i can put at the front will save me any more burns!

i dont think it will make much difference but there might be others who think it will. I had a tank with the lights on either side and i still got good coral growth throughout the tank.I guess it depends on what will you have in your tank as well.
