Question regarding TBS rock age and supply..

Hello all!

I recently watched the video on TBS' main page and i thought it was really cool. However I'm curious..

3,000,000 pounds of live rock sounds like a lot but how long do you think it takes to actually go through all that rock with customers ordering like crazy?

Is rock being dumped in new locations constantly replacing rock that has been sold?

I'm guessing that not all TBS are created equal. Considering so much was dumped in piles, would the rocks that are stacked further down be less populated and colorful as the stuff being on the top?

The reason I'm asking these questions is because I'm planning on setting up a reef of my own later this year (can not now because I am still in an apartment) and am just curious if the rock they're selling now will be just as vibrant and full of life 6 months or even years down the line?

Thanks!
Adam

If I were a farmer - I think it would be logical that after I "harvest" a portion of my crop - that I would re-seed that area to harvest in the future.

I would assume that similarly, with LR one places the rock and harvests appropriately depending on how quickly the rock is colonized.

Personally I think you will likely be fine with the rock you get 6 months from now. If there were a finite supply of rock - then it wouldn't quite be "aquacultured".

Well - anyway - that's my 2 cents but I'm sure TBS can explain it better.
