Question

I had a carbon bag that ripped open inside my canister filter. I now have carbon pieces mixed into my sand and have no idea how to remove. Is the loose carbon a danger to a semi aggresive large fish tank. I do not have any livestock yet , but had planned on getting some this weekend. Tanks for any help you guys can offer up.

A little bit wont hurt. Try and suck it up when doing water changes.

Some got loose in my system and it's a pain to catch it. Try a net. It won't hurt anything as long as it's not a lot and if it's a lot it should be easy to catch! I net a little on the sand, pick out the pieces and put the sand back. Tedious but it works.

it would be a pain to pick them off sand but you're lucky it's carbon and not phosguard.
