Here is the situation:
I live in an apartment(2nd floor) where I will most likely live for at least the next 18 months. Right now I have a 55g that I am happy with. However, like most I want a bigger tank. I have even made efforts to get one but end up missing the chance. There is a 180 that is available at a great deal. No, I won't tell you where/who because I don't want to get beaten to the punch again.

So here is the question:
Should I go for the bigger tank, knowing I will hate myself when it's time to move, or do I let it go and just get a big tank when I get a house, and hate myself for missing the deal?

I'm pretty sure I know what you will say but thought I would ask anyway.

1 thing Ive learned from this hobby is that great tank deals actually do come around quite often...save up some money and when you do get into your own house, you can probably afford an even bigger tank, like a 220 or something

you could buy it now and just set it up when you move into your knew house. But, could you resist the temtation of setting it up? I know i couldnt.

From my experience patience is a true virtue. If you know you are moving for sure in a relatively short time frame, I would be patient. Save your money and shoot for something bigger - good deals always come around.

To be honest, I'm contemplating the same thing, except I have an older home in Kirkwood and I'm worried about putting a 220g on the first floor. That much weight on the old floors of this house may be too much. And then, it would end up in my basement all over the place... I'll likely be moving in about 18 months as well, so we're going to wait. However, it is very tempting when I see all these post for tanks for sale... I may end up snatching one up and sitting on it until I move. Just my two cents...

i don't think i would put a tank that big on the 2nd floor.

Just the thought of carrying an empty 180 upstairs makes me shudder.
