I just got in a FEW large colonies of zoanthids and when taking them out of the bag there were dead bristle worms and a few dead oysters and what not i am guessing from shipping.

I added them to my tank after dipping them in a iodine concentrate solution and removing all the dead worms i could and this morning i had a cloudy tank and it smelled kinda bad in the tank room.

Is there a way to tell if any of the polyps died or what should i look for i did a 15gal WC this morning its a 75 gal tank and i have another 45 gal of water or so i will change out this evening when i get home from work but i wanna know if there is anything i should look for the polyps havent opened yet looked like a few were starting but i just wanna make sure i do everything the right way.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.

I'd do a big WC. Have you tested the water? Did you rinse the frags after dipping, before putting them in your tank?

Yeah i rinsed the frags and did a dip in lugouls concentrate solution.
They have been in there a few hours and i am going to buy more powerheads to add extra flow in the tank but i just want to make sure everything is ok i havent tested for ammonia but i definately could smell the die-off im thinking from the dead Bristleworms and mollusks that i detached. i did try to get as much off of them as i could but i guess i couldnt get it all off.

Also how long do you think it would take before i start seeing some life to these zoas? they are under 4x54W T5's but on the bottom of the tank i have some acros and monti's up high about 1/2" below water surface some just about touching the top of the water.

Had 1 monti turn from a nice purple to a bleached out white so thats what made me do the 15 gallons this morning but i have another 30-40 gallons im gonna change out plus im going to plumb in another 35-40 gallons worth of tanks to the system as well.

Now as far as new corals i did the iodine dips was there anything else i should have done that you think would help with die-off and making sure nothing unwanted get introduced?

I think you might have put those new corals into QT for a while. Sounds like frequent WC are in order to get all that death out of your tank or you're going to lose everything.

yeah so far i have just the 1 monti that bleached out
Im at work right now so i wont be able to check on the rest until later but im definately going to do a good 70% WC
hopefully that helps the person i got them from said that i should just add more flow to them i will definately add more carbon and maybe a poly pad or a carbon pad of some sort.

other than the WC and im definately setting up a second tank when i get home is there anything else for the zoanthids i should do?
