Chalices comprise a pretty big group of corals. I have many that do better in high light, and others that prefer lower, shaded areas. I'd err on the side of less light and flow, and go from there. Signs of stress include bleaching and tissue recession, neither of which are easily remedied. Post a pic, and we can better tell what type you have. I find most are hardy, though some do not frag well. I also must point out that I've had a lot of so-so chalices turn spectacular after several months in my tanks, so you could be in for an even more pleasant surprise!
