questions about euro-reef mod

I want to mod my ER 5-2 to run outside of my sump. Does anyone know if this has been done before?

Attached is a pic of what I was thinking.

The pic does not show the overflow from the tank to the sump or the return. I plan to add the euro reef kind of like a closed loop system to the sump.

euro reefs arent really considered water tight and running it externally you may find leaks.
