Hey guys,
i just bought a 28 gall nano cube with a hqi lighting system. i am cycling my water now, about a week into it. i have noticed that when the lights are on the temperature jumps up between 80 deg to 81 deg and when it is off falls to as low as 77 deg. so i have been left in a unending battle in my head, do i spend the $400 on a chiller or the LED lighting hood for the 28 gal NC....i think i am leaning more towards the chiller cause i have more control over the temperature. the problem is i have no idea how and the hell i would set this up. i have a general idea, but as far as what kind of pump to use and where i would have the in and out hoses coming from im lost. anykind of feedback would b greatly appreciated concerning this issue, thanks again

80 to 81 is fine. you get over 85 i would turn the lights off. also try a fan for 10 bucks before you drop 400 on a chiller.

+1 on wallacefan statement of LED's before Chiller. This is Feb if you are going to have the room the same temp in the summer you will not have much of an issue with this battle changing in the summer. Most people keep their houses a little warmer in the summer when they are not there so it might be some thing that is a problem for you later. The Chiller seems extreme for a Gal tank + LED's will likely not be too expensive if you are building them yourself. Plus for a 28 you would not need that many. If you have the cash for LED's lying around then you can pull the trigger on that if you want. That would really cut down on the heat depending on the setup. I would also post to the Nano forum as many might have your exact setup and can give you a few tips.
