Questions on green Saddleback Anemone

Picked up a neon lime green Saddleback yesterday from me LFS. No pictures yet, but is almost see through white with a glowing lime green color, is this natural or dyed? Never seen anything like it. I will post pictures tonight, but can anyone post thier lime green saddlebacks?

It has tiny tenticles, like stubs, so I am assuming it is a Saddleback. LFS said it was a carpet.

Can not find anything similar in the anemone faq or Google.

Anyone have identification on it? The webiste says it is a Neon Carpet From Indonesia.

The anemone in the picture is likely Cryptodendrum adhaesivum aka, pizza or adhesive anemone. It has short tentacles around the outer edge and small tree-like tentacles in the middle. I only hosts clarki clowns and is verrrry sticky and can cause a careless handler some pain.

Unless the tentacles on your anemone are branched, you likely have a saddle carpet (S. haddoni). It sounds from your description like your anemone is very bleached. It should gain back its zooxanthellae in a few weeks if you keep it fed and in good conditions.

Thank you, given my carpet is bleached. Can you tell what color it will be when back to full strength health? The tenticles are far apart and like tiny knobs the size of a ball point pen head, but not long at all. Will take pictures tonight. Looks like saddle back to me, just ultra neon green. The base is white an dthe body under the tenticles is white, so I'm thinking bleached and not dyed. Does the neon color mean anything?

It is not easy to tell what color it will be when it colors up.
The ultra neon green come from the transluscent green pigments that really stand out when the zooxanthellae goes away. The same thing happens with Rose BTAs. They become a beautiful glowing pink.

Thank you Phil, very interesting. I'll start feeding tonight and do everything to nurse it back to life strength. How long does it take for an anemone to bleach. My LFS just picked it last night, directly from importer. Do think think shipping stress caused this?

Bleaching can happen in a day. No telling how long the anemone was sitting in a holding tank before it was shipped to the importer.
Shipping stress will often cause an anemone to bleach, although saddle carpets are not as prone to bleaching as some other types of anemones.
