Questions regarding a sump

I started my 12g thinking id be fine without a sump, but with all the equipment stacking up, its gonna make the tank look like a mess.

Im not one for drilling into glass etc, so I think ill just buy a hang on overflow box. Will go for a 5 gallon used tank to DIY into a sump of some kind. Sicce has a good cheap return pump for nano tanks/sumps that ill probably go for also (student on a budget :fun5:).

But I was wondering, what about the piping from overflow box to sump, and from return pump to tank, are they usually included or? And also, won't there be a strong direct flow from the returnpump if its just a tube that goes directly into my display tank?

Thanks for the help! :)

As long as the return pump isn't too oversized, then the flow wouldn't be a problem. Have it aim towards the front glass and that would disperse it.

As for piping, you'll probably have to buy the plumbing for it.
