Hello all,
Wanted to get opinion. Been fighting some nuisance hair algae and while it is relatively in control, I've been thinking of adding a refugium to my sump for some time. I have a 90 gallon display and 20 gallon Aqueon Proflex Sump. As you can see in the pic I have my skimmer in the middle chamber. Unfortunately it is too big to be moved to the 3rd. I realize I could just get a bigger sump but don't want to incur the expense. So, I created a wall in the third chamber. The wall has slits in it. Could I add some sand, live rock and chaeto and of course a light there? Would that make an impact or would it be too small? I'd like to start growing pods but my real goal is to make the display cleaner.
Another option perhaps would be to build an exterior refugium and plumb it in somehow. i have the space but wouldn't know where to start from a plumbing standpoint.
Appreciate the feedback.
