Questions regarding Wrasse & sandbed

Guys a question here: in my tank upgrade I am going to do shallow sandbed (thinking of 1") and not gonna use sugar grain sand any more. But I have a leopard wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus) & a yellow coris wrasses sleep in sandbed (right now I have sugar grain sand).
My question can these wrasses do well & sleep in relatively bigger size sand? If so I can have an area of thicker sand (maybe 3 inch) for them to sleep. If not, as far as I love my leopard & yellow coris(they are nice & fat & lives long time in my tank), I would have to find good home for them.
Thanks!

What about the Halochoris species Steve? Specifically a radiant, maybe a twisti. I have some SeaFlor aragonite reef sand that's small but not sugar grain size I'd like to use.

That is more difficult to predict. I would think any anampses wrasse might be risky. I have been tempted to try them but so far have not done so. Wrasses that are primarily copepod eaters AND whose safety/sleeping is the sand bed are probably at risk because their mouths are tiny and any damage might render them unable to eat. In the case of leopards, I KNOW they need soft sugar sand. I keep various flasher, fairy, and leopard wrasses so I am reluctant to offer opinions on other families.
