most 2x4's will do just fine, certainly use the best pieces for the header, but even flat sawn works just fine for the vertical supports. Check them for straitness when you buy them and keep them flat on the ground until used.
You all gonna laugh but I just use Home Depot unfinished kitchen cabinets and put a piece of 3/4" birch plywood on top. Voila instant tank stand with drawers or whatever style you want. No failures. Flame on.
4x4 for a tank Stand this size is crazy over kill lol horrible idea. I made mine outta 2x4 skinned with 1/2 veneer for a 150 and this was way over built stand is way to heavy and just no need I wish I knew better back then.

Why flame? as long as it supports the tank properly there's absolutely nothing wrong with it! Plus you have an extra drawer for silverware if the kitchen is full! :lolspin:
