like the title says...

i need to get a piece of PVC out of my bulkhead so i can install the new aquasilencer i made for my overflow...

any ideas? id like to get this done asap...

is the pvc piece glued into the bulkhead?...
if it is, you could probably cut it close to the bulkhead as possible and then sand out the rest. Time consuming.

Yea. I just let my PVC pipes sit in the holes. I should glue them in there so they don't slowly leak when the power goes out, but they do. Either way, good luck getting it out. If it is glued, does anyone know how to undo the gluing if that blue PVC glue is used?

i dont think it was glued... but it was really in there... still didnt get it out... tank is running without return for now and ill get a new bulkhead today i guess....

Yeah I think that would be your best bet. I hope it work out for you.

As far as the blue PVC glue goes that is the strongest of the PVC glues IMO. HE HE HE so I don't think you'll be getting that out anytime soon.

Sometimes you can get it out. Even if it was glued.

Cut the pipe flush with the fitting. Next, take a hacksaw blade. Only the blade, no handle and stick the end of the blade into the fitting and cut the pipe down to the fitting. This is the tricky part. You want to cut the pipe thru but not into the fitting to much. You need to cut about 3 times, roughly thirds.

Next, take a SMALL flat screwdriver and put it between the fitting and the pipe. Use a small hammer or something like channel lock pliers and tap on the screwdriver, wedging it in between. You need to do this next to a cut you made. If you do it right and it was not glued with primer there is a good chance you can get the pipe to peel out as you go. Sometimes pieces will break off and you have to get them out later. Try and get the big pieces first. Leave all the small ones to the end.

Then you can use some primer to soften the pvc and pop the small ones out. Sometimes it digs into the fitting to much. If it does, it is over and you have to buy what you need.

What size bulkhead do you need? I have one or two 1 inch bulkheads available.
Shoot me a PM, If I could help.

i only need a 1" but i need it like today, so ill probably run to henry at reef aquarium on bird... i was there yesterday and i know he had a few bulkheads in a cubby next to a new custom tank he was building...

so... i got it out and put in my replica AquaSilencer... yea... it cant handle the flow... what gives.. i used the parts listed on several sites...

1" pvc uptube
1.5" pvc coupling
1.5" to 1" bushing sanded out to let the whole 1" pipe through
1" endcap with hold drilled and air valve... i tried with valve in and valve out... either way it just doesnt flow... could i possibly need more air?

i took it apart and drilled more holes... its handling the flow better now, but the only way it is quieter is that the gurgling happens in the tube... which, dont get me wrong, is like 75% quieter... but i can still hear it... about as loud as my Aqua C urchin Pro with mag 3....

You can try sticking some airline tubing down the pipe to the point where the gurgling is occurring. Make sure the end of the tubing is out of the water. It will vent the pipe and eliminate the gurgling.

Couple of strap wrenches applied in opposite directions. They have rubber strips that form to a loop and grip pipe and other round cylinders very firmly.

Did you drill holes for water flow or did you cut two big square holes with a miter saw. You should drill a 3/8" hole in the endcap and then put in a 1 1/2 ft piece of tubing. The tubing should not enter the water on the inside of the standpipe. Just put it in far enough to keep the hose in place. Drop me a line if you are still having issues. I have implemented about 2,000 so far and I have only had one person (that I know of) not be successful and they were running a wey/dry.
