Folks,

What is the difference between the IIeX III and the IIIeX?

Trying to understand the difference in cost, and can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks!

Ok, I'll simplify this a bit.

The "eX" models have the eX expansion installed in them. The eX expansion provides a third Level port, additional L Port (L5-6), Redox Sensor, and Conductivity Sensor. Not all packages come with the probes for these sensors, but they are available to the unit if you have the electrodes with your package or purchased them seperately. This expansion is the same for the II and the III.

The differences between the Profilux 2 and 3 base units are pretty extensive.

Profilux 3 has the following improvements over the 2:
- Integrated USB and LAN interfaces
- Integrated Web Server
- Dimmable LCD display
- 32 Programmable Logic Gates (instead of 8)
- 32 Illumination Channels (instead of 8)
- 32 Timers (instead of 12)
- PAB Bus Interface
- Significantly more expansion possibilities via Expansion Box

and much more...

I just upgraded my II to a III and was totally impressed. If you like your gadgets and think you will expand in the future then go straight into the III, its worth the extra money up front for sure.

However, if you want a device that out of the box you can use for complicated timing and lighting options then you could get away with a basic Profilux II unit and build on it. Both products give you a lot of growing room, but the 3 out of the box a superior unit.

Ok, thanks... Here is what I want to do with the system:

My systems is on two levels... The moan display tank is in my office on the 1st floor, with my sump in the basement directly below. In the main display tank I would like to do the following:

Monitor temp
Monitor pH
Control my ATI Powermodule
Control a heater/fan based on set temp criteria

In the basement where the sump is, I would like to do the following:

Turn on/off return pump from 1st floor
Turn on/off skimmer pump from 1st floor
Monitor/Control pH for my calcium reactor

What Profilux controller and parts/pieces would I need to accomplish this?

Thanks so much for any ideas!

Cool setup!

I would go for a Profilux 3 Ultimate kit as this gives you the expansion box, 2 PAB bars and 2 Ph probes. You could mount the profilux at the main display and the Expansion box at the Sump with a length of Cat5 network cabling between them for the PAB wiring.

The kit comes with everything you need to do everything you want, as well as many other options
