Quick " pruning " question

I have noticed that as my stylopora and hydnophora and acropora branch and grow up toward the radions the lower parts of the corals are blocked from the light by the branches above . I've only recently ( last 12 months) begun to have significant growth on the Sps corals. Do you experienced Sps guys prune the colonies to maximize light exposure ?
