Quick question about the 3155.

I ordered one and should be in transit right now, and I am trying to prepare for the set-up. Instead of buying a reservoir/large rubbermaid trash can for the RO/DI water (since my tank is relatively small), can I just use the usual 5 gallon plastic jugs as a top off reservoir? I guess my question is, will the pump and whatever equipment needed (float switch?) fit into it? Are there any problems with this?

Yes, you can use any size reservoir you want as long as the opening is at least big enough for the pump- about 2". The pump is the only thing that goes inside the reservoir unless you add the kalk dispenser which needs our part 5002.25 or another type of 7gal bucket (salt bucket)

I thought there was a float switch that sits in the reservoir and tells you when it is dry.
Does the pump sink to the bottom?

The pump sits at the bottom, their is no float, the pump an run for a maximum of 10 minutes and then it automatically shuts down and sounds an alarm. The pump is not water cooled or lubricated so running dry is not an issue for the pump.

Is there a limit to how deep the water reservoir can be? If the pump doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t come with enough line length, can it be easily added without putting further stress on the pump?

Sorry, I read the pump specs onlineââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦so let me rephrase my question. How much tubing line length comes with the pump? Can it be easily extended?

It comes with 3meters- about 10ft. I really would not recommend longer runs. We do sell a 10 meter roll. The max head is 9ft, long lateral runs can cause erratic operation mainly do to the difficulty with the pump priming itself.

so if you are not travelling 10ft, is it better to cut it short to relieve the pump of some stress?

I cut them but with enough slack that it is easy to pull the reservoir out from the cabinet to refill.
