Quick Question on noise

I have been running two VT's for awhile now - they are very silent - just a slight hum but barely audible. I just got two from dascharisma, they were practically brand new and look right out of the box. He only sold them because his glass was over 3/4" and they didn't work for him so I took them off his hands.

Anyway I hooked one up, and it makes kind of a fluttering sound. Like a really faint sound of a paper edge in a fan. Or maybe like corduroy pants.

Is this a sign of poor alignment, or the sound of a new unit just breaking in? I'll let it run overnight to see if it wears down but please LMK if something is wrong before I let it run like that for too long. Its not "loud" but much louder than the silent one its running right next to.

Boy I can't wait for those controllers - running four on this tank will be killer!

Thanks Tim, I checked on the way out and the noise had subsided. I'll check the pins when I get back.

Noise just went away, woohoo! Got the fourth one up, no start-up noise. If I put my hand on the dry side, both have a random slight "pinging" going on. Nothing loud, doesn't seem to affect performance - should I be concerned? Spacers are on correctly and flush. Just odd that its on the two new ones and not on the old ones.

With four up, the flow is fantastic. I'm dyyyyyin' for the controllers though. Damn FCC, first Janet Jackson, now this!
