Are any of you aware of the rules about posting about letting others know about a new lfs opening? I just received a really rude message from a moderator for posting about a new store my friend is opening. I can remember a few threads in these forums where others did the same thing with not so much as a peep from the mods. I have no interest in the business I was just letting others know about a new quality store in an area that has absolutely no other options.

It does look a bit like advertising when someone says come check out this grand opening. There are shop owner/reef keepers on this site, and they are very careful about trying to keep the business seperate. One doesn't have to look far to find posts touting one shop or another, but your post did look a little far across the line. You maybe shouldn't have posted that it was your friend's store. Also, the shops you see talked about are usually well established places that several different members all mention.

1. I'm closing this right now as absolutely nothing good comes from threads such as this.

2. Since pimpinitup doesn't seem to have an issue with this being public. This is the exact message that was sent.

Sorry but all your posts relating to this store have been removed. You can't pimp your friend's new store.

Sorry but we've never allowed people to jump on here to hawk their buddy's/relative's new business. Its one thing to discuss a business you heard was coming to town through the grapevine, its something entirely different when there is an obvious bias and motive for doing some free advertising. :)

If you have seen other threads where this has happened its probably because nobody has bothered to report it. RC gets into the several thousand posts per day, we don't read them all, especially in a club forum that by far is not one that is seen to need a lot of "supervision" (which is a great thing).
