quick question...

In one of the recent posts it was mentioned that the guy "Played" with his Octo. Has anyone else experienced the Octo squirting or anything? I did a water change last week with one of those fat tubes that feeds into a regular tube and my Octo came out to see what the heck was going on. I pulled my hands out cuz I wasn't sure what he would do. Have any of your Octo's gone after your hands or anything like that? I know maroon clowns have a nasty reputation for going after hands, but wasn't sure about Octos.
Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill
I have always played with my octos. I have never been bitten. I have been squirted though lol.
The first time you make contact they will scratch you with their beak to see what you are made of , but it won't hurt. I feed by hand and they tend to sometimes hold on while they eat.

Hi Bill, If it was me, he still plays all the time. He walks from one side of the glass to the other, propels a little, likes to walk mostly. One time I wasn't payin atention he grabbed my finger and startled me and I jerked away. He followed up by squirting me. Thats when I realized they need attention or at least some constant moving tankmates(none yet), so when I come home from work he is waiting on the glass for me. I have not actually let him "crawl" on me but I can feed him by hand no problem. He hasn't grown that much in a month or so, but by far he is now my favorite anything in my tanks, he doesn't like the direct light from the camcorder tho, he loves to be filmed. This is my first ceph. so this only pertains to my present octo. HTH

I thought I read the Bimac. is a California species that likes flats. Maybe you can catch one at low tide. Good Luck
