Quietest Large In-Sump Pump?

Hi everyone, I am trying to help out one of your fellow large tank reefers, and being I am more experienced in smaller reef tanks... I need your help.

I am looking for the quietest (Sound if a very big issue with his neighbors, in-sump pump (Can't be external) that can do about 200+ GPH with about 5-6 feet of head loss.

I really appreciate your help, especially given my complete lack of experience in the field of large reef tanks.

Ah, well that certainly makes a difference. (I kinda wondered too.)

Others have had good luck with RO Water Blasters but I have the HY 10000w which are about the size he is looking for and they are anything BUT silent.

I have read good things about Laguna pumps and I have a smaller one on my skimmer that is fairly quiet (but not silent). I have no idea what a 2000 gph version might be like though. Also these are pond pumps that come in a cage. You can remove them but there is not "stand" to sit them upright. As an internal pump that may not be an issue but it should be considered.

From what I've read, Red Dragon pumps would be incredibly quiet but they are also incredibly expensive. But if he has to have a NAF (neighbor acceptance factor) maybe he'll have to throw down some bank.
 
Take a look at the Fluval Sea Sp6. I just set mine up today, quietest pump I have ever owned. It pumps 3400gph and makes less noise than my 950gph QuietOne4000. I highly recommend the Fluval Sea Sp pumps. They are made by laguna (uses the same motor block as Red Dragon).

The Fluval Sea pumps are the Laguna pumps made for salt water (should have stated that in my previous post). They come with their own stand, so you don't have to worry about taking it out of a cage and mounting it somewhere.

Thanks for sharing that info. Will they handle a 9-10 foot head pressure. (larger volume pump), I will be looking for a return pump from a basement sump in the future.

Be sure to include the Tunze Silence pumps in your evaluation. They are extremely quiet, and in our experience, very dependable. The larger ones are electronically controllable as well, which makes it great to dial in the flow rate you need and hit your "quietness" targets :p
