Quieting MH ballasts

Are there any tricks to quieting down or muffling magnetic MH ballasts?

I bought a whole setup used, and the only real complaint I have is the MH ballasts are a bit too loud. Right now I just have them out on the floor, not inside the stand, but I don't think that would help a whole lot. Having not used MH lights before, I'm not sure if this is just how loud they should be or if these are abnormally loud. They are 250W magnetic HQI ballasts from Current USA. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It will pay off in the long run to get newer electronic ballasts. The are more effecient & also silent & finally a LOT smaller.

Not sure what to say about making them quieter, haven't used magnetic ones for years.....
