Quit protein skimmer!!!!!!

Hi All,

I am in the process of setting (back) up my 46 bow front aquarium after taking a few years away from the hobby due to personal issues.

I am currently looking at getting a new protien skimmer for my set-up and recall that these things can be one of the loaded and most anoying peices of equipement on a tank.

As I stated earlier, this is a 46 bow front - with a modified 20 gallon tall sump underneath, so there is not a terrible amount of access room underneath.

I was considering a Berlin type skimmer that mixes up the air in the pump...any thoyughts on noise production/maintenance.

I have a euro reef and its quiet. Works good too.

my asm is quiet too works great

TO be honest how many of them are real loud? Is it just the pump that makes nosie or what? I wouldnt think any of them make that much nosie. I have never owned another to compair my Euro to.

Its the air being sucked into the tube. I also have a lifereef which works great and is dead silent.

I have a Remora Pro and it is louder than a jet engine...

you can remove the sound from the air tube on asm by inserting a longer 1/4" tube in it....with that asm skimmers are silent

the loudest noise of my euroreef is the water going back into the sump....but I have mine modded so it is louder than stalk too....very quite skimmer

I keep my water level in the sump almost to the top of where the water comes out on the euro reef. probley around 10-11 inchs.

my euro reef es5-3 is pretty quiet. it exposed outside of any stands and doesnt disturb anyone while they are sleeping.

I have a Red Sea Berlin with a mag 7 and Kent venturi Works great and hardly know its running. It is also like chrismunns it is not inside of a stand.
