R.O. straight to tank question

I love the idea of the auto top off, I cant stand lugging those jugs of water around;

I have a question though, for anyone who could advise...I know it is commonly frowned upon, but I have been running a tube directly from my 4 stage R.O. system under my sink, to a float valve in my sump, and been having great luck with it. I know most people have a separate storage, but with limited space where the tank is, I figured this would work ok...

other than having to keep a closer eye on the water parameters, for a FOWLR tank, is this really bad?

Thanks!

If the float fails to shut off the RO unit then you could end up with a flood and your water parameters out of whack. Where as a seperate jug of ATO water will only have so much in it that could be pumped in by accident.

It's not good for your RO system to cycle on and off so much like it will hooked up like that. You'll also find your wastewater runs almost constantly.

Minimal benefits, certainty of eventual failure, catastrophic results to your aquarium and home when it fails.

To clarify, carrying a few jugs of water a week, vs, valve gets stuck on fills your aquarium with freshwater killing all livestock, and flooding your home causing flood damage. Say it happens mid day and you catch it when you get home 6 hours of overflow on a 110 GPD that is 30 gallons enough to destroy even the large tanks, and most floors.

You'll probably be good for a year but it WILL get stuck on.

Bad idea as stated above for RO/ TDS & potential for flood, and killing livestock...
What size tank? how much top off needed each day? Maybe a better simple solution...

I like to run the water supply to my ATO container and turn it on for a few hours, Just don't forget to turn it off in time. You can use the float valve with a manual switch. Just don't go strait to the float valve constantly. Works very well with a kalk reactor as well.
