Are Rabbit Fish reef safe?
I have heard they may eat bubble algea. Is there a species of rabbit fish that is most prone to eating bubble algea?

Rabbitfish in reefs can be risky. Some may nibble on LPS, while others leave them alone. That being said, I have had a Doliatus Rabbitfish in my reef tank for over 5 years and it has been fine. If you are talking about grape caulerpa, yes, it will mow it down. If you are speaking of Valonia, mine will eat the smaller ones, but I have to remove the larger ones by hand. Keep in mind that these fish can get pretty big and can also produce a lot of waste.

I have a foxface rabbitfish who's been in my tank 2 yrs and never touched a coral. Can't attest to whether he would eat bubble algae, as I don't have any. I agree with RichK's comment that they get large and produce a LOT of waste. Mine is about 8" and eats a sheet of nori to himself each day.

I have a rabbitfish and he will only picks at my bubble coral if there isn't algae in the tank for him to snack on.. I always keep some algae in the tank and that keeps him from messing with anything.

I heard that scribbled rabbit fish is the one who eats bubble algae. Emerald crabs will also if you want to got that route instead. Some tangs will eat bubble as well.

I had one spot foxface & orange spotted before. Both nipped on my maxima clam. I feed my fish once a day, sometimes every other day; Maybe I just didn't feed them enough. They didn't touch bubble algae.

my foxface doesn't touch any coral, but he's got a couple of bite marks on the side, which is a sign he went too close to my clown hosting elegance. He hasn't touched my sps or zoas

My 2-barred has never touched a coral. Did help a great deal when I had a bubble problem. I keep nori in the tank for it and my 2 tangs, they do get very large quick. Awesome personality to boot.

I keep a Doliatus and a fiji rabbitfish and neither will touch valonia or any of the turf algae in my tank but they are just awesome fish. They are mostly listed as reef safe and mine have been but some specemins have been known to eat a variety of corals.
